The Manchester College
The needs of the learner are the focus of The Manchester College, which provides excellence in learning and training for the residents of Manchester and beyond. We offer an unprecedented range of courses, with clear choices and guidance for all our students.
The Manchester College has sites across the city: from Moston and Harpurhey in the North, One Central Park in East Manchester to Wythenshawe and West Didsbury in the South, as well as several locations in the city centre. Each site has its own specialist, cutting edge facilities and resources within a friendly and supportive atmosphere. There are over 1,000 students at the One Central Park site attending day & evening courses in a range of subjects from 3D Animation and Web Design to Accounting and TESOL.
College Principle Peter Tavernor:
"At The Manchester College, we never forget that education is about serving the community. We are not just an effective institution – we are a unique and special one. I strongly believe that our success is based on the culture of the college. There is a real buy-in to our vision and all our staff do their utmost for the communities we serve. As our communities change, we have to meet their needs and we do that in amazing ways. We have invested greatly in our vocational facilities, bringing them up to and beyond the standards of those in industries such as catering and IT.
Management in education is about leading people. At The Manchester College, leadership and management happen at every level of the institution. My job as a leader is to facilitate the ability of people to become leaders – leaders of other people, of services, of facilities, of students in the classroom, of students leading others. Whether you are a prospective student, a current learner at the college, a parent or carer, teacher or business manager, The Manchester College is a powerful resource at your disposal and will help you to reach your full potential."
